Frequently Asked Question

DJM-2000 - Connection

Q: Can volume controls be replaced?

A: They cannot be replaced by the customer. Have them replaced by a Pioneer repair center. For contact details, see the operating instructions.

Q: Can a stereo microphone be used?

A: No. Use the monaural jack.

Q: The output sound is distorted.

A: Possible causes include an input level that is too high and an output level that is too high. Adjust the [TRIM] control (input) or the LEVEL control (output) so that +14 on the level meter does not light. If the sound is distorted even when the input and output levels are adjusted, you may be exceeding the power amplifier’s maximum allowable input level. Lower the output level to an appropriate level using the [MASTER ATT] control on the rear panel. The level is lowered to 50% at -6 dB, to 70% at -3 dB. This setting is not associated with the master level meter.

Q: Are there balanced terminals?

A: MASTER OUT1 (XLR) and BOOTH (TRS) are balanced terminals.

Q: I connected the DJM-2000 to a CDJ by control cable, but the fader start function does not work.

A: Both a control cable and audio cable are required to use the fader start function. Note that the fader start function may not work when only a digital audio cable and control cable are connected. In this case, also connect an analog audio cable. To use the fader start function with LINK connections, there is no need to connect an audio cable, but the CDJ-2000 or CDJ-900 must support LINK connections. Check that the CDJ’s version is 3.00 or later.

Q: What are the MIDI connection specs?

A: When controls and buttons are operated, the corresponding MIDI signal is output to the computer via USB cable. (For details, see the operating instructions.) The signal assignment cannot be changed. Also, MIDI signal input is not supported.

Q: Is it possible to use an XLR-RCA converter cable (or converter plug) to connect the MASTER OUT1 output to an amplifier with an RCA input? Also, is it possible to use an RCA-XLR converter cable (or con

A: We do not guarantee performance when using a converter cable (or converter plug). Connect the MASTER OUT1 and ZONE OUT terminals to an amplifier with an XLR input, the MASTER OUT2 terminal to an amplifier with an RCA input.

Q: It is possible to make MIDI connections to an EFX-1000 and operate it?

A: Connections can be made using the DIN terminal, but the key assignment function does not support the EFX-1000, so it cannot be operated. With the DJM-2000, MIDI signals can be output to a computer using a USB cable.

Q: What are the SEND/RETURN terminal specs?

A: The terminal is of the pre-insert type (input/output before the channel fader).

Q: What is the factory default for MASTER ATT, -6, -3 or 0 db? Also, when is the setting switched?

A: 0 db. This is switched according to the rated input level of the power amplifier or powered speakers used.

Q: Do the mike terminals support phantom power?

A: No.

Q: What are the polarities of the MIC terminals?

A: Polarities as seen from the front, for both MIC

Q: Tell me about the audio signals output from the REC OUT terminal. Are they the same as the signals output from the MASTER terminals?

A: The signals are the same, but they are not affected by the MASTER VR.

Q: Can I assume the fader start function can be connected to a Pioneer CDJ- or DVJ- with a fader start function?

A: Yes. To use the fader start function with LINK connections to the CDJ-2000 or CDJ-900, the CDJ-2000 or CDJ-900 must support LINK connections. Check that the CDJ’s version is 3.00 or later.

Q: What CDJ do you recommend using with the DJM-2000?

A: A CDJ-2000 or CDJ-900 supporting the LINK function. To use the LINK function of the CDJ-2000 or CDJ-900, the CDJ-2000 or CDJ-900 must support LINK connections. Check that the CDJ’s version is 3.00 or later.

Q: I have connected an effector by SEND/RETURN but cannot achieve echo reverbs with the fader.

A: Echo reverbs cannot be achieved if the SEND/RETURN effect is set to all channels. Set the effect channel to Master.

Q: Can the digital signals from a DVD player be input?

A: Yes, if the DVD player’s digital output signals are PCM signals. However, Dolby Digital and DTS signals cannot be input.

A: These are pre-insert type terminals with which the signals are input/output before the channel fader.

Q: Can tracks on players connected to the LINK terminal be monitored over the mixer’s headphones via the LINK terminal?

A: When using LINK connections, monitoring is possible from the computer application supporting the link monitor function (rekordbox), but the player’s tracks cannot be monitored via the LINK terminal. To monitor the player’s tracks, use the CUE button of the channel to which the player is connected.

Q: The CDJ-2000/CDJ-900 connected to the DJM-2000’s LINK terminal is not recognized.

A: Is the CDJ-2000 or CDJ-900 connected to the PC1 or PC2 terminal? When a player is connected to the PC1 or PC2 terminal and has the same player number as the CDJ, the player connected last cannot be recognized, a message is displayed and the channel number flashes. Connect the CDJ-2000 or CDJ-900 to the LINK 1, 2, 3 or 4 terminal.

Q: Why doesn’t the power button on the remote control turn on the set?

A: The design of the power button on the remote control is for turning off the TV only. To turn on the TV, please select from the numerical button on the remote control.

Q: Can we display a split screen image in 2 colours system?

A: No. The scanning rate between the two systems will not match.

Q: Can I hang my Plasma monitor upside down?

A: No. Consumer TV does not come with a special mode to inverse the image.

Q: Is it normal for the media receiver to become hot?

A: Yes, it is normal and within specifications.

Q: SD11 is displayed and the power turns off.

Q: The PC image on the Plasma is not clear or have double image.

A: In the PC mode, go to Home Menu, select for Phase function. Adjust for the correct PC image phasing.

Q: How do I clean my plasma?

A: When cleaning the screen or cabinet of the television or monitor, gently wipe it with a dry soft cloth (the supplied cleaning cloth or other similar cloths e.g. cotton and flannel). If you use a dusty or hard cloth or if you rub the screen hard, the surface of the product will be scratched. If you clean the surface of the screen with a wet cloth, water droplets on the surface may enter into the product, resulting in malfunction.

Do not use any chemicals as they can cause damage. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • benzene
  • thinner
  • volatile gas or fluid such as pesticide
  • other chemicals or cleaners
